Livelihood

Sewing

Since the very beginnings, Mithing Pangarap offers livelihood programs for older students, parents and other community members. Out of garments and other materials our members produce textiles, bags and jewellery. In our livelihood programs we newly decided to cooperate with Gawad Kalinga to get the most benefit out of our work. Me moved from our old livelihood building to the new Gawad Kalinga building where our school is located and started to share sewing machines.

After meeting with Sathya Sai Baba Organisation, we became their beneficiaries for our sewing activities. We will receive a monthly supply of garments remnats to be used for our project. On our first visit, we received about 200 kilos of materials which can be used to produce childrens clothes, rugs, bags and other soft goods. For our families this support is a big saving because on the open market the price for garments is not afordable.

Charcoal

At this time, we have two families who got starting capital for their charcoal business. They start by producing charcole close to their homes on a special area and later sell it per plastic bag. Besides the financial support for the family, another benefit is that the children also seem to get interested in the production and learn about organising a small business. We are planning to get more families to be involved in this project.

We thank our sponsor Mr. Jayson who supports this project financially.
