Education

Preschool

Due to our high standards, our preschool is one of the best in the whole area. Three of our teachers are working with two groups of children aged 4 to 6, one taking part in the morning from 8am to 11am, one in the afternoon from 1pm to 4pm. During their classes, our preschool students learn and play in small groups or individually. We usually start our classes with some minutes of meditation and sports.

In the preschool, Mithing Pangarap is following the Montessori method of education which means that our teachers are only supporting the childrens development while they study as much as they can by themselves.

Literacy Programm

Some of the students studying at Mithi have never attended a public school or for others reasons did not learn how to read and write. For these students as well as for students with special needs Mithi established the Literacy Program. In this program, our students learn the necessary basics of reading and writing without any grading and depending on their level of studies.

ALS
The ALS (Alternative Learning System) consists of a compressed schedule and test offered by the Department of Education (DepEd) which prepares Filipino students in order to join formal education. Most of our ALS students are school dropouts. We are organising elementary and highschool classes on a tutorial basis in order to perpare our students for the ALS test.
The ALS test offers successful test takers certification of learning achievements at Elementary and Secondary level– comparable to the formal school system. Students who pass the test are getting a certificate signed by the Secretary of the Department of Education. It allows them to join the mainstream educational system.

Kumon

For about 10 years Mithing Pangarap has been offering Kumon classes to its students. Kumon is an individualized education system that employs an effective method to help each child develop the skills needed to perform to his or her full potential. The objective of Kumon is not only to improve a child’s mental calculation ability but also to help the children to gain confidence, good study habits, concentration skills, and a curiosity for learning. The instruction always corresponds to the child’s ability, the students only compete with themselves. The Kumon method was developed by Toru Kumon, a japanese highschool mathematics teacher and father of a son.

Schorlarships

Mithing Pangarap and its donators are supporting former students which graduated successfully with scholarships for their continuing university studies. Currently, we are helping two college students and we are trying to raise the number of college students in future times.

Mr. Young sponsored Reynaldo Barizo Jr for his studies of criminology at the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST), a four years course and Mrs. Evelyn Cun-Unjin sponsored Efrahim who now is in his second year studying Hotel and Restaurant Management.

Both scholars are integrated in the schools everyday work, Efrahim supports us by preparing the food for students and staff and Reynaldo is helping to clean the rooms and to get water for the second floor which is not connected to the water supply yet.
